Look at the backside of the steering wheel, into those 2 holes. There is a metal wire (looks like a piece of coat-hanger wire) laying across a metal surface inside the steering wheel, which you can see if you look in the hole. Simply slide that metal wire towards the center hub of the steering wheel, and you will hear/feel a POP as it releases

3 Answers. If none of the doors actuate the light, I'd suspect the courtesy lamp assembly itself. If certain doors don't actuate the light, the door latch mechanisms for those doors become suspect. Best to scan the car for codes through dealer or find an independent VW specialist with Vag-com.
